Corrigendum to “Prevalence of DSM-IV major mental disorders among Korean adults: A 2006 National Epidemiologic Survey (KECA-R)” [Asian Journal of Psychiatry 3 (2010) 26–30]
Article Outline
The authors regret that in the article the following errors occurred.
In the first sentence of ‘4.3. Psychotic disorders’ section, the second ‘KECA study’ should be changed to ‘the Epidemiological Catchment Area (ECA) study’. The KECA study is the nationwide epidemiologic study performed in Korea in 2001, while the ECA study was carried out in the U.S. in the 1980
s. In addition, several terms need to be spelled out in this sentence. This sentence should read:
The lifetime prevalence of schizophrenia was 0.1% which was the same as the results of the KECA study and similar to that of the National Comorbidity Survey (NCS) (0.14%), whereas it was lower than that of the Epidemiological Catchment Area (ECA) study (1.3%) as well as the Netherlands Mental Health Survey and Incidence Study (NEMESIS) (0.4%) (Bijl et al., 1998).
There were several other terms that need to be spelled out. The second sentence in the third paragraph of the ‘4.2. Mood disorders’ section should read
The prevalence of dysthymic disorder (0.5%) in South Korea is much lower than that of the National Comorbidity Survey Replication (NCS-R) (2.5%) and the European Study of the Epidemiology of Mental Disorders (ESEMeD) (4.1%) which could also result from a high diagnostic threshold for dysthymic disorder in Koreans.
The authors apologize for any inconvenience caused by these errors.
